What are Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells made from tooth-color materials such as porcelain. They are designed to cover the front side of your teeth. Dental veneers are used when a patient has gaps, chips, stains, or misshapen teeth. Tooth veneers easily correct imperfections in the teeth so patients can have a more confident, beautiful smile. The porcelain veneers are natural in appearance and are the perfect option for patients wanting to make minor adjustments to the look and feel of their smile.

Preparing for Dental Veneers

To prepare for tooth veneers, our staff will make a unique model of your teeth that will be used to create the shape and size of your veneers. It is possible that your doctors will need to conservatively prepare your tooth before placing the porcelain veneer so you can receive a desired aesthetic result. If you have questions about tooth veneers or think you could be a candidate, schedule an appointment with our Inlet Beach office. Our stellar team will provide you with an examination, determine your candidacy, and answer any questions you may have.

Benefits of Dental Veneers

Minimal Enamel Removal

Tooth veneers can be superior to other dental procedures because patients don’t have to sacrifice their natural teeth to get them. Veneers only require a small amount of enamel removal for them to adhere to the original teeth. Once enamel is gone, there is no getting it back, making a tooth vulnerable to sensitivity and decay.

Low Maintanance

Dental veneers are non-pourous making them more stain-resistant, although you should still avoid food and drink with heavy coloring. With routine brushing and flossing, you can easily maintain good oral health with your veneers, as they don’t require extra care. Come visit our office to learn more about dental veneers and what we can do for you.

Enhanced Appearance

Porcelain dental veneers can correct imperfections in your smile, restoring your self-confidence. The tooth veneers look and feel natural so they won’t be distracting to your overall smile. Our doctors are experienced in cosmetic dentistry so you can rest assured they will deliver beautiful results that restore your smile.

Porcelain Veneer Options

At 30A Smiles we offer both traditional veneers and Lumineers, also known as prepless veneers. Both provide many benefits but patients may prefer one over the other. Our team can help you determine which option will be a good fit for your individual needs and circumstances.

Traditional Dental Veneers

Traditional dental veneers require some preparation before a patient is ready to receive them. Our team will take an impression of the patients mouth so the veneers can be custom made to fit perfectly. Then when the veneers are ready, the dentist will remove a small amount of enamel to the original tooth so that the new veneer fits in nicely. Traditional veneers are a long-lasting solution for imperfections of the teeth.

Lumineers

Lumineers differ from traditional veneers in that they require little to no preparation. The only thing needed to prepare for Lumineers is an impression of your teeth, whereas traditional veneers require some enamel removal. If you have limited enamel on your teeth to begin with, prepless veneers would mostly likely be the optimal choice for you because enamel protects our teeth from sensitivity and decay. Once enamel is gone there is no getting back.

Am I a Candidate for Teeth Veneers?

  • Sufficient tooth enamel
  • You don’t have a habit of clenching or grinding your teeth
  • Fairly straight teeth
  • Interest in improving your smile

Some patients may need additional preparation to become a candidate for tooth veneers. Schedule a consultation with our Inlet Beach office and our fantastic team can determine your candidacy for porcelain veneers.

I had an older crown fall out while vacationing along 30A, and had to scramble to find a good Dentist locally. I selected 30A Smiles based on their reviews, and it was a great choice! I was able to get a quick appointment by a friendly person on the phone, and once in the office Taryn & Dr Skinner were marvelous! A great team, they answered all my questions, and I felt very comfortable in their care. I ended up getting a fully new crown all done that same day. Great experience and highly recommended Dental practice!
