Regular Teeth Extractions

There are various reasons why a patient may need a tooth extraction. For example, if a tooth has decayed, it may put the surrounding teeth at risk and so your dentist may remove the decayed tooth and replace it with a bridge or implant. If one of our dentists determines you need a tooth removed, it is possible they may extract the tooth during your regular check-up or have you schedule another visit.

A tooth extraction is a fairly simple procedure with a small recovery time. However, we do offer sedation at our Inlet Beach office, so speak with your dentist if you are interested. After you have your tooth pulled, the dentist may recommend replacing the extracted tooth with an artificial tooth, depending on your situation. Our team of doctor’s at 30A Smiles are absolutely phenomenal and you can rest easy knowing you are in the best hands.

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

At 30A Smiles we also provide wisdom teeth removal. Wisdom teeth are types of molars found in the very back of your mouth and are typically removed due to lack of space. Wisdom teeth are typically ready to be removed when a patient is in their late teens or early twenties. It is important that the wisdom teeth roots have not fully formed and that the bone surrounding the teeth is less dense. This makes extraction easier and shortens the recovery time.

Getting your wisdom teeth pulled requires a dedicated procedure appointment. It is likely you will have some form of sedation and so you will need someone to drive you to and from the appointment. Depending on the degree of difficulty related to the extraction, healing time varies so it always a good idea to have the procedure done when you are not in school or have days off work.

Our team of doctors at 30A Smiles are well-trained and experienced in the procedure. If you think you could be a candidate for wisdom teeth removal, schedule an appointment with our Inlet Beach office. We can examine your mouth and determine if you are ready, close to being ready, or still have a few years before you need your wisdom teeth removed.

Impacted Wisdom Teeth

If not removed at the right time, wisdom teeth can become impacted, giving the patient gum tenderness, swelling, or even severe pain. Impacted wisdom teeth happens when the teeth are partially or fully erupted and don’t have proper space. Impacted wisdom teeth are quite difficult to clean, which makes them susceptible to tooth decay, recurring infections, and even gum disease.

Tooth Replacement Options

Implants

An implant is a synthetic tooth root, usually made of titanium, in the shape of a post that is surgically placed into the jawbone. A replacement tooth cap is then fixed to the post and can be non-removable or attached as removable. This gives the patient restored function and appearance of the missing tooth. Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth (using a crown), multiple teeth (using an implant-secured bridge), or a full arch of teeth (using implant-supported dentures.)

Bridges

A dental bridge is for patients who have one or missing teeth, most often from tooth decay, gum disease, or injury. The bridge fills in the missing tooth area with an artificial tooth that appears real and natural. It is important to fill in holes where you are missing teeth to retain good oral health and prevent pain. Your teeth work altogether, so when one is missing, you will notice the difference in your chewing and biting, which can lead to jaw pain and discomfort in your remaining teeth.

Removable Denture Implants

An implant-supported removable denture is an excellent option for patients seeking dentures. Compared to traditional or custom dentures that are secured with adhesive, implant-supported removable dentures use a snap mechanism making them easy to remove or snap back into place. Some lifestyle benefits associated with them are the ease and comfort they provide when it comes to smiling, laughing, speaking, and eating as it gives the user confidence their dentures will stay in place and not slip.

Fixed Denture Implants

Fixed implant dentures look and feel like natural teeth. There is no need to worry about them shifting or falling out. One of the amazing benefits of receiving non-removable denture implants at 30A Smiles is our ability to do the entire process within our Inlet Beach office. Depending on a patient’s needs, we can complete either an All-on-4® or All-on-X. Compared to removable implant-supported dentures, fixed denture implants are more hygienic as they are not placed outside of your mouth on bacterial surfaces.
